In just two weeks...

Sigh... I'm ready to go. I need a vacation to get back to my "normal" self (what is THAT like?!). This past year has been very hectic, TOO hectic if you'd ask me. It's almost time to relax now.

I'm off to celebrating my mom's birthday, and I'll see my brothers and sister for the first time in MONTHS. That may sound weird but we're not a really "close together" family. Johan's family is very close, but mine isn't (I don't mind). But anyway - this is what I created for my mom:

It's a canvas (bought at an Action store) with acryllic paint (several colors, Liquitex). I had some pieces of wood (bought at STUDIO CALICO) and cut them in squares. I used several patterned papers and cut those in squares too. I sewed along the edges and on some of them I used my edge distresser. Some masking tape and a few embellishments and VOILA. I adhered the squares with extra strong glue dots in every corner. That way the sides are "open" and she can add photos or little notes with paperclips to the squares if she wants to. Easy does it. I hope she likes it... (if not I'll take it back home with me for in my (almost finished!!!) basement. Ha!

Het canvas is heel mooi geworden, en ja, de Action! Ik woon op 5 min. lopen... zeeeeer gevaarlijk!

Wat een heerlijk vooruitzicht Liesbeth. Ik hoop dat jullie er allemaal enorm van zullen genieten!
Je cadeau is prachtig, ik kan mij niet voorstellen dat je moeder dat niet vindt, maar ja... scrappers zijn misschien een beetje bevooroordeeld!
Bij de Action kom ik ook graag voor lijm, tape, verf enzo. Het is bovendien de enige winkel waar het bij de kassa ook altijd weer meevalt ;)

I think I am caught up! I went through all the old blog posts! I have been terrible about keeping up with blogs. I can't believe you are coming to the US again! Where all are you going? That house looks gorgeous! And I can't believe all the problems you have had with that basement and how long it has taken to finish it! That would have drove me crazy!

Love your photos of that family, your photos skillz are really improving! Wish mine would! :)
